My work deals with displacement, the shift of place that becomes a new 'fit', an identity that is in a sense erased and in the process of being rewritten with a new 'grafting' into a new place.
I appropriate and explore a wide variety of materials, images and aesthetic ideas. One of these being the idea of text and line as image and image as text. These manifest in works on paper, wood and sewn works. Personalised icons or metaphors like the Y-shapes and cow images are used in landscapes without reference to the visually perceived world, but rather explore and make a fantasy visible. It isn't a literal place, but an emotional place of arrival or becoming.
