fat chair
It interests me greatly how we as human beings create meaning. Every individual is responsible for the meaning he or she makes for themselves. Keeping yourself from becoming stuck takes courage. My thinking has been influenced by the work of a german artist named Joseph Beuys. It was essential for individuals to understand how the creative process works, according to Beuys. He explored extensively the state of being stuck in his art process. His famous work “fat chair” (1964) makes this idea visible. The chair, a symbol of expectation, holds a solid block of fat which symbolises the state of being stuck. Beuys also introduces the idea that this block of fat can become fluid again, once the synthesis is warmed.
The transition between solid and fluid is what I'm interested in. How can I keep flowing?
